David Chong Ping, Technical Operations Director

David is a Board Director with over thirty-six years of business experience; he joined M·E·L Research in October 2012 and is a Certified Member of the Market Research Society.

His specialisms include Local Government research, evaluation and behavioural change insights and he works with a range of public sector and independent sector clients including Government, local authorities, social housing providers, environment, waste and recycling, police and the criminal justice system, health and wellbeing, third sector networks and umbrella organisations. He holds a particular interest in behavioural insights using his experience of MINDSPACE, the Behaviour Change Wheel and COM-B in the evaluation of health and wellbeing, physical activity, fuel poverty and environmental sustainability research projects.

Outside of work, David is (sadly) a bit of a Star Wars geek. While visiting family in the Cayman Islands back in 1999, he flew to Miami to watch The Phantom Menace (Episode I) as it hadn’t been released in the UK… he accepts this decision was a huge waste of money! Nevertheless, he subsequently attended the Secret Cinema Empire Strikes Back event in south-east London in December 2015, dressed as a Rebel Alliance smuggler and he continues to waste money on Star Wars related nostalgia through his subscription to Disney +.
