M·E·L Research Appoints Industry Veteran, Paul Sutton, To Develop Operations Offer
M·E·L Research Ltd is delighted to announce the addition of Paul Sutton to the team as Fieldwork Operations Manager.
Paul, who joined the company in October 2023, brings with him an impressive 20 years of operational management experience, with 14 years specifically dedicated to fieldwork management in the market and social research sectors.
“I’m excited to join M·E·L Research. I’ve already seen how the company creates such a supportive culture and work environment which enables employees to reach their potential. I look forward to working with my colleagues, living our values and together making a difference through the delivery of our research and social value objectives. I’m also excited to look at how we can expand our offer to support more clients, in more ways.”
Prior to his arrival at M·E·L Research, Paul has demonstrated a robust track record of operational success in various well-known companies such as Telewest and Capita before joining the research fraternity via JRA Research, Peak Answers, and most recently at the National Centre for Social Research. His career, marked by regular progression and a commitment to excellence, began in call centres and evolved into influential leadership positions in operational sales, project and fieldwork management.
In his former role at the National Centre for Social Research, Paul served as Senior Field Manager, where he effectively led a remote team of six Field Performance Managers and 150 full-time external survey interviewers.
At M·E·L Research, Paul’s responsibilities encompass the development and oversight of all outbound call centre (CATI) and face-to-face (CAPI/CASI) fieldwork. He will ensure these projects, whether stand-alone or part of a blended solution, meet the high-quality standards M·E·L Research’s clients have come to expect.
Paul is also working members of our SMT to identify areas in which M·E·L Research’s fieldwork offer can be expanded.
“Paul’s expertise in fieldwork operations is difficult to match, and we are excited to have someone of his calibre join our already experienced team. His proven leadership skills and commitment to delivering exceptional results will be integral as we continue to provide top-notch fieldwork and market research services to our clients and he is already providing ideas for developing our offer, as well as confidence that he has ‘been there and done it’ before. We’re really excited about what the future holds.”
Paul’s appointment is part of M·E·L Research’s wider commitment to reinforcing its operational capabilities and enhancing the research services offered to its clients. If you like to get in touch to find out more, you can do so here.

It was an absolute honour to attend the Women’s Health Conference in London this week, bringing together clinicians, policymakers, campaigners and others passionate about improving women’s health.
As a researcher specialising in women’s health social research, I was excited to have the opportunity to learn, be challenged and exchange ideas with people who share that passion. And I wasn’t disappointed.
There has (quite rightly) been a lot of discussion recently about the gender health gap. But some of the evidence shared…

Last week, I had the opportunity to speak at Collections Inside & Out, a symposium hosted at National Trust Chirk Castle & Garden, bringing together people working across gardens, horticulture, heritage, collections and interpretation.
I was, perhaps, a slight interloper among so many people with deep horticultural expertise but every presentation was incredibly interesting and I learned a lot – and broadly managed to follow the general flow of what was being said (still not 100% au fait with taxa…

New UK-wide research from M·E·L Research’s SPARK report shows improving mental health indicators alongside continuing exposure to suicide, widespread lifetime suicidal thoughts and significant gaps in practical knowledge.
Suicide prevention depends on understanding not only how many people are affected, but also how confident the public feel about recognising risk, starting difficult conversations and finding appropriate support. The Spring 2026 SPARK report from M·E·L Research brings these issues together, providing a detailed picture of attitudes…
