David Chong-Ping to Present at Belfast Business Survey Results Launch
Join Belfast City Council and Belfast Chamber for the Belfast Business Survey Spring Results on Wednesday, 22nd May at 11.00am.
We are excited to announce that David Chong-Ping from M·E·L Research will be one of the key speakers at the upcoming Belfast Business Survey Results Launch. This event is hosted by Belfast City Council and Belfast Chamber, providing a platform to present the findings from a comprehensive survey conducted with over 400 businesses in the city.
This is the sixth iteration of the survey, published twice a year, that M·E·L Research has delivered for Belfast City Council and Belfast Chamber.
The survey sought the views of local businesses on various crucial topics including business confidence, employment prospects, and the challenges they currently face. The insights gathered from this survey are invaluable, offering a detailed understanding of the economic climate in Belfast and helping shape future strategies for growth and development. In October 2023, 38% of Belfast businesses said that turnover increased over the past 6 months, and the same amount also expected turnover to increase in the next six months.
David Chong-Ping, alongside Michelle Greeves and Karen Bonner, will deliver expert analysis on the survey results. The group will delve into the implications of the findings for the Belfast economy, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of the local business landscape.
This event is a must-attend for anyone interested in the economic future of Belfast. Whether you are a business owner, policymaker, or simply invested in the local economy, the insights provided will be invaluable. Gain first-hand knowledge of the current business environment and network with like-minded professionals.

It was an absolute honour to attend the Women’s Health Conference in London this week, bringing together clinicians, policymakers, campaigners and others passionate about improving women’s health.
As a researcher specialising in women’s health social research, I was excited to have the opportunity to learn, be challenged and exchange ideas with people who share that passion. And I wasn’t disappointed.

Last week, I had the opportunity to speak at Collections Inside & Out, a symposium hosted at National Trust Chirk Castle & Garden, bringing together people working across gardens, horticulture, heritage, collections and interpretation.
I was, perhaps, a slight interloper among so many people with deep horticultural expertise but every presentation was incredibly interesting and I learned a lot – and broadly managed to follow the general flow of what was being said (still not 100% au fait with taxa…

New UK-wide research from M·E·L Research’s SPARK report shows improving mental health indicators alongside continuing exposure to suicide, widespread lifetime suicidal thoughts and significant gaps in practical knowledge.
Suicide prevention depends on understanding not only how many people are affected, but also how confident the public feel about recognising risk, starting difficult conversations and finding appropriate support. The Spring 2026 SPARK report from M·E·L Research brings these issues together, providing a detailed picture of attitudes…
