Cost of Living Crisis Impacting Morale, Productivity at Work

June 2023

Looking at the emotional or mental impact of the rising cost of living, 43% reported feeling reduced motivation or morale at work, up from 41% in October 2022. This sense of reduced motivation or morale is felt more acutely by women than men (47% and 37% respectively), and is understandably higher among those who report they are worried about the cost of living (44%), those who report poor health (59%), or poor mental health (56%).

In April 2023, 49% of respondents indicated that the cost-of-living crisis was having an impact on their mental health. This is a slight increase from October 2022 when 42% stated that the crisis was having a negative impact on their overall mental wellbeing.

M·E·L Research are pleased to welcome Rhiannon Pratt as a Senior Research Executive in the quantitative team. Rhiannon joins M·E·L from NSPCC, where she worked on supporter journey and segmentation among other core third sector projects. Prior to the NSPCC, she has had spells at Beat, a charity for those with eating disorders, as well as Ipsos Karian and Box where she gained experience in employee experience studies across a two-year engagement.

By exploring the factors influencing non-visitors' decisions, their expectations, and barriers to engagement, the research will provide invaluable insights to support the Museum's efforts in enhancing its public outreach and broadening its audience base. M·E·L Research will also provide training to the team at the RAF Museum in implementing findings and undertaking further evaluation.

M·E·L Research have been commissioned by the Wales Cancer Network to help assess the outcomes and impact of the Rapid Diagnosis Clinics (RDC) programme. The RDC programme is a national initiative supporting Health Boards in Wales to provide General Practitioners (GPs) with a referral pathway and RDC to investigate vague symptoms that may be caused by cancer.
