Royal Shakespeare Company take leading role in M·E·L’s expanding culture sector offer

M·E·L Research is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) which will see us deliver an always-on online community with 250 of the RSC’s stakeholders, including members, supporters and patrons, teachers and attendees from a range of core and growth audiences and from across the UK.

Speaking about the new commission, Elliot Simmonds, who leads culture and heritage sector research at M·E·L, felt there was a clear synergy between the organisations:

“The RSC is famous worldwide, both for the quality of their output and the way they stage productions in new and novel ways. But beyond that, the RSC are an organisation that is conscious of the context in which it operates – their Next Generation programme focusses on developing skills in young people, they offer a range of accessible and assisted performances, they have an enviable schools programme and, most recently, they have offered a Warm Hub in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Knowing this, and having talked to the team about the type of audiences they want to engage and how the on-going insight will be used tactically and strategically to inform how the RSC develops, we’re incredibly pleased to have the opportunity to set up this community and to work closely with the RSC going forwards.”

You can find out more about our commitment to social value as an agency and how we are delivering it in real terms via our social value summary video or our full report.

The community will run on an on-going basis, with insight delivered fortnightly, based on a combination of set piece activities and emerging findings from curated discussions between participants. It is likely that activities will cover a range of topics and formats, from UX and collateral testing and reviewing messaging, to discussions around the future of the RSC and the longer-term strategy for audience engagement and delivery.

The RSC represents the latest in a growing number of high-profile clients in the culture and heritage sectors for M·E·L, including the Birmingham 2022 Cultural Programme, UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK, Trigger, Culture Liverpool, Art Fund, the Museum of London, and the Association of Independent Museums among others, all working with M·E·L in the last year.
