Why Does ISO Matter for a Market Research Agency?
ISO certification is vital in the market research sector because clients depend on accurate, trustworthy and secure insights to guide important decisions. For an agency like ours, these standards provide a framework that supports consistent quality, strong governance and reliable research delivery.
Building Trust Through Proven Standards: ISO certification gives clients confidence that our systems and processes have been independently assessed and verified. It shows that our internal practices meet internationally recognised standards for quality, research methods and information security. This is particularly important when work involves sensitive subjects, complex datasets or high profile stakeholders.
Ensuring Quality and Consistency: Research must stand up to scrutiny. ISO 9001 helps ensure that every stage of our work, from project planning to data collection to reporting, is carried out with care and consistency. It provides assurance that our outputs are robust and traceable, and that they support sound decision making.
Protecting Data and Managing Risk: Market and social research often involves handling personal or confidential information. ISO 27001 requires us to operate strong information security controls, manage risks effectively and protect data at every stage of a project. For clients, this means peace of mind that their data is safe and that we take our responsibilities seriously.
Delivering Research of the Highest Standard: ISO 20252 supports the integrity of both qualitative and quantitative research. It ensures that our methods are transparent, well documented and aligned with recognised best practice. This means our findings are reliable, credible and capable of informing meaningful action.
Driving Continuous Improvement: ISO standards require more than maintaining the status quo. They encourage continual reflection and improvement, helping us refine our processes, identify opportunities and strengthen our approach over time. This benefits both our clients and our team, ensuring that we can deliver high quality work in an ever changing environment.
Helping Clients Make a Difference: Ultimately, ISO demonstrates that clients can trust us not only with their projects but with the bigger decisions their research informs. Whether the goal is shaping public policy, improving services or creating positive social impact, ISO helps ensure that the evidence we provide is strong, reliable and ready to support change.
What Does ISO Certification Means for Our Clients?
Achieving and maintaining ISO certification shows that we do not simply claim to deliver high quality, secure and reliable research. We demonstrate it through rigorous independent audits. Each of our certifications reassures clients of different aspects of our commitment to excellence:
ISO 9001: Quality Management: Shows that we consistently deliver high quality outputs, with processes that are robust, traceable and designed to support sound decision making.
ISO 27001:2022: Information Security: Ensures clients can trust us with sensitive data, including personal information and confidential project materials, through strong and effective information security controls.
ISO 20252: Social Research Standards: Confirms that we follow internationally recognised best practice in both qualitative and quantitative research, ensuring our findings are valid, reliable and replicable.
Together, these accreditations show our commitment to quality, integrity and the reliability of our research processes.
Credit Where Credit’s Due
A big shoutout to our Quality and Compliance Lead, Toni, for planning, managing and overseeing our ISO audits, as well as the ongoing day-to-day management of our systems. Toni’s dedication and attention to detail play a vital role in ensuring that our standards remain high throughout the year, not just during audit season.
Thank you also to the entire M·E·L Research team for consistently following our policies, processes and quality standards. The commitment of Toni and the team is what allows us to pass these audits year after year, and it reflects the professionalism and care that the team bring to every project.

It was an absolute honour to attend the Women’s Health Conference in London this week, bringing together clinicians, policymakers, campaigners and others passionate about improving women’s health.
As a researcher specialising in women’s health social research, I was excited to have the opportunity to learn, be challenged and exchange ideas with people who share that passion. And I wasn’t disappointed.
There has (quite rightly) been a lot of discussion recently about the gender health gap. But some of the evidence shared…
We are pleased to be working with the MS Society on new health and care social research exploring how health and care services can better support people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and help reduce avoidable hospital admissions.
The health and care social research study will focus on opportunities for earlier intervention and more coordinated, preventative support, while recognising that hospital admission is sometimes clinically necessary. It will…
Last week, I had the opportunity to speak at Collections Inside & Out, a symposium hosted at National Trust Chirk Castle & Garden, bringing together people working across gardens, horticulture, heritage, collections and interpretation.
I was, perhaps, a slight interloper among so many people with deep horticultural expertise but every presentation was incredibly interesting and I learned a lot – and broadly managed to follow the general flow of what was being said (still not 100% au fait with taxa…
We’re pleased to share that our Commercial Director, Elliot Simmonds, will be speaking at the Collections Inside & Out symposium at National Trust Chirk Castle & Garden on 24 September 2026. Bringing together professionals working across heritage collections, gardens and landscapes, the symposium will explore the relationship between indoor and outdoor heritage and the opportunities created by thinking about them as part of a connected visitor experience.

New UK-wide research from M·E·L Research’s SPARK report shows improving mental health indicators alongside continuing exposure to suicide, widespread lifetime suicidal thoughts and significant gaps in practical knowledge.
Suicide prevention depends on understanding not only how many people are affected, but also how confident the public feel about recognising risk, starting difficult conversations and finding appropriate support. The Spring 2026 SPARK report from M·E·L Research brings these issues together, providing a detailed picture of attitudes…
