In 2016 M·E·L Research was commissioned by NHS Nottingham City CCG to carry out a concurrent evaluation of an innovative Engagement Framework Pilot. The strategic evaluation aims were to support future funding for this type of engagement approach, and to identify implications for scale-ability of the engagement approach for the Greater Nottingham Clinical Commissioning Partnership.

Resource Greater Manchester (RGM) is a partnership between WRAP and GMCA (Greater Manchester Combined Authority). Its objective is to deliver a programme that will contribute to zero waste, by improving recycling. To help achieve this objective, WRAP wanted to deliver a campaign which could address the issues with waste disposal behaviours when residents move home, by encouraging them to recycle additional waste and engage in recycling services in their new property and area. To assist them in doing this, M·E·L Research was commissioned in 2018 to identify the best times to engage with movers about recycling information and services, as well as to understand the variations between tenures, behaviours and properties.

To measure the impact of the Healthy Homes Fund programme, M·E·L Research was commissioned to undertake a programme-wide evaluation. The evaluation included a process and summative assessment of the overall programme, which included a summary review of the outcomes of each of the 43 projects.

Sefton’s private rented sector (PRS) has increased by 64% between 2001 and 2011 and has continued to grow and owner occupation has fallen. In six wards, located in Southport, Waterloo/Seaforth and Bootle, the PRS exceeds the national average [2011 census].

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire (OPCC) and Staffordshire Police launched the ‘Cyber Safe Staffordshire’ campaign in 2016 to raise awareness of cybercrime and how people can protect themselves and their families online. It is a joint campaign by Staffordshire Police and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Staffordshire.

M·E·L Research was commissioned to undertake a Survey of Tenants and Residents (STAR) for Lambeth Housing Services (LHS) and Lambeth Tenant Management Organisations (TMOs), on behalf of Lambeth Council. M·E·L Research also carried out the last two STAR surveys in 2013 and 2014.

In 2015 Northamptonshire County Council commissioned M·E·L Research to carry out a large scale Mental Wellbeing survey across Northamptonshire. It was the first survey of its kind, commissioned by the County Council, with the aims to understand the mental wellbeing level of its adult population, and to further identify potential wellbeing inequalities existing in its local communities.

Research was commissioned by NHS Nottingham City CCG to carry out an evaluation of the Healthy Weight Advisor pilot. This ran as a pilot service in the Robin Hood Cluster of GP practices in Nottingham, from June 2014 to November 2015.

The private rented sector (PRS) in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has grown rapidly in the last 10 years and accounts for approximately 27,500 properties; a third of the borough’s housing. Due to high demand and competition from tenants to find accommodation that is in short supply, the council believes there is little incentive for poor landlords to maintain minimum safe housing standards.

In 2015 M·E·L Research was commissioned by Leicestershire County Council’s Public Health Team to carry out a one year evaluation of a Local Area Coordination (LAC) Pilot, being delivered in 10 local areas within four Districts, by a team of eight Coordinators. The main evaluation aims were to evaluate delivery, effectiveness and impact of LAC to inform future development and potential roll-out.

Present research has mainly focused its efforts in exploring barriers to using recycling services from kerbside properties. We are now seeing a shift to the next level - understanding the issues to recycling for households receiving communal collections of recyclate.
