Delivering our social value commitment to Birmingham Mind

Social value is something we take very seriously and strive to achieve through the work we do with clients and more widely. This has involved making decisions about how we will run our company for our staff and clients, with social, ethical and environmental values at the forefront.

MEL Research

We have formed a dedicated social value team at M·E·L who are dedicated to our values and enjoy coming up with ideas and initiatives that involve fundraising, reducing our Carbon Footprint, developing our social value proposition, increasing training and support for our staff and promoting our good news stories as a company.

One of the decisions that our Fundraising Team made towards our social value commitments was to nominate a Charity of The Year, and donate a proportion of our 20/21 profit to them. This year we chose Birmingham Mind, as mental health is a key focus area for our work.

We are absolutely delighted that we have been able to present Birmingham Mind with a cheque for £20,700!  Pictured here are Rachel and Kerrie from Birmingham Mind and Karen Etheridge, Jenny Chen and David Chong Ping presenting the cheque from M·E·L Research.

Helen Wadley, CEO for Birmingham Mind added “Thank you M.E.L Research for choosing to support us this year and beyond. Your significant donation will assist us in supporting our 24/7 Helpline for those in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull, area who seek assistance on a whole range of mental health issues.

Our Helpline continues to be a much needed service and Birmingham Mind in partnership with the Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust, is only able to offer the people of Birmingham a dedicated advice, information and helpline service with donations like yours. We can’t thank M.E L enough for this donation, your support will make such a difference to the hundreds of individuals who contact our helpline each month.”

Mind is a charity that we have worked closely with, and Birmingham Mind are our local charity, providing invaluable services such as the helpline, live web chat, online advice, activities, and person centred support for anyone who is struggling with their mental health. Their services include support at home, supported living, training courses for organisations, wellbeing hubs, support groups, crisis support and much more. Being an advocate for the wellbeing of our own staff, we recognise the work that Birmingham Mind do to be absolutely invaluable.

We have also raised a further £710 to date through various activities, such as the Great Birmingham 10k run and a ‘60 miles in 7 days’ team challenge to celebrate Birmingham Mind’s 60th anniversary.

We aren’t stopping here though, we will continue our fundraising activities through to 2023 to boost this even further!
