Biffa Award Impact Evaluation

Background

Since 1997, Biffa Award has awarded grants to community and environmental projects across the UK. To date, nearly £180 million has been awarded to thousands of projects. An evaluation was delivered which focused on the impact the fund has had on projects from 2015 to 2020.

Methodology

Our evaluation focused on the following:

  1. How has funding impacted on local communities and biodiversity?
  2. Are completed projects still operating independently of Biffa Award funding?
  3. Have completed projects been sustainable?
  4. What positive impacts have been achieved from the £22.7 million allocated since the previous impact assessment in 2014 and what changes have arisen, both positive and negative with regards to the fund since the last Impact Assessment?

We used the following data collection activities:

Outcome

Following our research, we delivered key learnings including the desire of the wider community to engage with local services and/or facilities.

Additionally, we delivered five key recommendations for the delivery of future Biffa Award grants.
