M·E·L Research study to be presented at Reshaping Legal Services Conference

We are pleased to announce that our on-going work for the Legal Services Consumer Panel will form part of the Reshaping Legal Services Conference, organised by The Legal Services Board and Legal Services Consumer Panel and taking place at the King’s Fund on 13 October 2022, bringing together a wide range of voices across the legal sector to help build and maintain momentum on the challenges set out in the Reshaping Legal Services strategy.

The importance that diversity and inclusion plays in shaping the future of legal services has long been recognised and the Legal Services Consumer Panel has this year supplemented their on-going legal consumer experience tracker – which looks at how consumers are choosing, as well as using legal services – with a piece of qualitative research. This aims to explore and understand in more depth the drivers behind the differing experiences of white British consumers and those who identify as being from ethnic minority groups, which has been an on-going trend for several years.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘a diverse public deserves a strong, ethical and diverse profession.’ Our findings will be presented immediately following the Keynote speech, which will be given by Sir Geoffrey Vos, Master of the Rolls, and will begin with a video summary of the findings developed by our in-house creative team and including anonymised vox-pop recordings of real consumers discussing their experience.

Speaking about the upcoming conference, Elliot Simmonds, Client Solutions Director and Account Director for the Legal Services Consumer Panel, said:

“The data suggests more can still be done and the LSCP’s commitment to understanding the underlying issues in more depth through the additional qualitative piece should, we hope, act as evidence for what can practically help to improve customer experience across the entire sector. We’re hopeful that the video introduction and subsequent discussions of results can help set the tone for a really useful and progressive conference for all working in legal services.”

The conference will promote collaboration and leadership, research in the sector and highlight positive examples of good practice to encourage everyone to play their part in tackling the challenges faced now and in the future.
