Supporting Macmillan with coffee, cake and evaluation

This Friday we join millions of others across the country with a drink and cake for the Macmillan Coffee Morning. It's a great way to help Macmillan Cancer Support do whatever it takes for people living with cancer.

Even better, this year we're able to join the Macmillan Coffee Morning in person from our Birmingham office, hosted by our landlord Headspace Group, not just from our home kitchen or bedrooms last year.

This week we're also presenting the final report of a two-year evaluation for Macmillan. This has captured the impact made by an advanced Macmillan nurse on end of life care for care home residents in Barnsley. We've revealed how a focus on care homes has helped shift thinking in healthcare in Barnsley, especially with one GP now aligned to each care home. Care homes are now planning for end of life care over a longer period, not just the final days of a resident's life, which has become even starker during Covid. We've also seen how emotional intelligence is just as important as clinical judgements from this key Macmillan role. It's been a delight to work with this great team in Barnsley, including with the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

As a very worthy cause, we're supporting the Macmillan Coffee Morning by donating £200, while we tuck into a cake and coffee.
